Working Towards a Sustainable Future
At Brooksby, we have created a task force dedicated to sustainability. We hope to unleash the combined talent of the team to ultimately help the company and our clients become more environmentally sustainable and drive improvements in our range of products and services.
Gold Membership
Brooksby has now achieved Gold level membership status to the Supply Chain Sustainability School.
This has aided us to showcase how the products that we design and produce are sustainable, being a company that has already been using MMC (Modern Methods of Construction) at its core.
We’ve also produced and submitted a case study to further highlight this and show other companies and clients how we are committed to a sustainable future.
Benefits of Off-Site Manufacturing
Off-site construction is crucial for contractors to be able to build the sheer volume of homes required in the UK.
Our products are designed, engineered, fabricated, and assembled off-site, being delivered to the construction location as and when required.
Below we highlight the top 4 benefits of off-site manufacturing for sustainability, project construction, and for the client and end user.
Sustainable Material Supply
Our suppliers use a high percentage of recycled materials:
- Post-consumer scrap that has lived a life in a product
- Pre-consumer scrap from our customers’ manufacturing sites
Aluminium supply is made from:
- 14% post-consumer scrap
- 65% pre-consumer scrap
- The remaining content is 21% primary aluminium
Low Carbon Supply Chain
Partnering with low carbon supply chains has allowed us to ensure the product is produced with the least embodied carbon.
Custom formed steel sections allow for less steel being used to create the same strength balcony, having material only where it is required. This also reduces the weight for transport.
Therefore the embodied carbon, in comparison to standard designed balconies with traditional steel sections, is greatly reduced.
